Guiltless Banana Nutella “Ice Cream”

Yes, it is getting crisper outside but we are still having those random mid-80 degree days here in the DC metro area.  If you’re like me the cold treats like fro yo and ice cream don’t stop just because of dwindling temperatures anyway.  This is a gem of a treat because it’s so yummy and virtually guilt-free ( I tend to add some nutella or pb so a little fat makes its way in).  When you blend a frozen banana in a food processor or blender it eventually becomes this creamy consistency you see above.  No need for any dairy, extra sugar, or any other ingredients- JUST the frozen banana.  Now you can make more than just smoothies with those bananas you stuck in the freezer because they got a little tooooo ripe.  Enjoy!



  • 1-1.5 frozen banana(s) per person
  • 1 TBSP of Nutella or peanut butter and berries for topping, optional


  1. Cut up frozen banana into smaller chunks, place in food processor, and cover.                                                                                           
  2. Blend and stop to stir/ scrape the edges every now and again.  At first it will look choppy, but it starts to become smooth like so:                                                                                                           
  3. Once the banana(s) becomes smooth and creamy, add your Nutella or PB and blend just to mix.   That’s it!
